Request for Proposal
Mineral Area College is requesting formal proposals for the design and construction of a fully insulated steel agricultural education facility with a main building footprint of 125 feet by 80 feet, including a front porch/entry area on one of the 80 feet sides, a 10 x 125-foot lean-to along one 125-foot side, a 20 x 80-foot lean-to along the rear 80-foot side, and a 14-foot eave height. The structure must be complete by June 30, 2026, and meet all applicable local building codes for wind and snow load and be designed for long-term agricultural and educational use. The building shall include a minimum of twelve (12) commercial-grade roll-up doors (appropriately sized for equipment access), multiple insulated man doors, and energy-efficient windows. All flooring within the main structure shall consist of heavy-duty reinforced concrete rated for heavy equipment use, with concrete extending to the porch and a designated portion of the rear 20-foot lean-to; livestock areas must include textured, sealed surfaces and the entire facility must be properly sloped to ensure effective drainage consistent with barn functionality. Interior build-outs totaling approximately 3,200 square feet shall include two insulated, temperature-controlled classrooms; restrooms; a kitchenette; and hallway space. Additional interior spaces shall include three (3) 10’ x 15’ storage rooms; one (1) 10’ x 15’ temperature-controlled clean breeding room; and one (1) 10’ x 15’ temperature-controlled medicine room with an attached 10’ x 5’ temperature-controlled bathroom. All classrooms and temperature-sensitive areas must be fully insulated and served by appropriately sized, zoned HVAC systems. Proposals should include electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and lighting plans suitable for agricultural instruction and livestock use, itemized cost breakdowns, project timeline, warranty information, and proof of insurance and bonding. Direct questions to Ryan Bohan (rbohan@mineralarea.edu). Responses must be received at the President’s Office, 5270 Flat River Rd. (63601), prior to 8:00 AM on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
